Hello. Restoring an early 4020 PS, got the engine running fine then took it out for a test drive and found that between 6th-7th & 7th-8th it seemed very sluggish at going into these gears. Feb 14, 2021. #1. Directly behind the oil pressure gauge is a small hole in the governor housing. Oil will go through that hole and run down a trough to the oil tube. Remove the oil pressure gauge and take a small stiff piece of wire and you can unclog the hole. I had the same issue with a 37 A. It takes some. patience but it can be done. OP.Report to Moderator. I would suggest doing a compression test on it warm up the engine first then make sure the choke is not shut and the throttle is full open to allow air to enter freely. All cracked/popped adequately, however, 2 of the injectors test pattern was not real good if pressure was added slowly so I replaced them. This did not cure the miss.

Make sure the surfaces are clean and I roughed them up with some really coarse sandpaper so that the JB weld had something to bite. I have had them on for 6 months and so far so good. C.The check valve in the early 4020 was at the transmission pump and is prone to failure to cause loss of all hydraulics with the clutch pushed in on the SR tractors. The side console 4020 moved that check valve up front and up top so if it leaks it doesn't drain the cooler/reservoir.
