How to set up ziply wifi extender.

I tried setting up a TP-link router with Ziply Fiber today and couldn't get it to work. It doesn't get an IP address from the ONT box. The ONT box has Ethernet cable out. Ziply Fiber technical support assured me that routers should be plug-and-play, no setup needed. I know the ONT box has internet because it works with an old Access Point.By Xfinity.
