To fix: Follow Locarno's instructions for removing the plastic cover, pull the cable, releasing the seat. Now you have to flip the seat upside down, find the latch at the front of the seat. There will be two cables ( like bike brake cables) going into it. One will be loose.

Nothing has to be spliced in. Simply reach in at the hood latch and unplug the connector. Then take a very small, thin wire paper clip or something similar like a one inch long wire, and bend it into a u shape and push it in to the unplugged connector.
