At low levels, just keep pilling in wood as fuel. It's super fast to collect and efficient until you find a steady stream of better fuel. IF your base is in a coal rich area, use coal. Otherwise as others have said, put out fish traps and put the fish into a fluid press for tons of oil.

Easily my favorite spot outside the northern highlands. Near the Hand of the Maker is really good for single player. If you're concerned about resource spread, most of the North has high amounts of iron and coal. Directly east of the mounds of the dead has a great deal of resources and the Wights for gossamer.It is almost like the noob river but iron is even more spares in that pocket. If you type up “Conan Exiles Interactive Map” there’s an even better map that shows you all spawns of everything . Iron is Blue And Coal is black. Great map!First, while in noob-river mode, you'll want a base in G6 (right near the Hand of the Maker) or the island in the river at I5 on your map.
