Some of my favorite in the 40K universe. The Night Lord Omnibus by ADB is a delightful read which provides depth and humanity to a despised legion. Path of the Dark Eldar is head and shoulders above most (if not all, if you really enjoy xenos) BL novels, Andy Chambers was so talented at writing Eldar. It doesn't even affect the overall plot. The Eisenhorn omnibus is imo the best 40k book. It shows the setting on a human level, outside the warzones. Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden: This book claims to be a part of the "Space Marine Battles" series, but there's no consistent story between books, so it does not count. A Black Templars must-read set during the war for Armageddon, and one of a rare few 40k books where a Space Marine actually has a character arc.
