For infantry I like a mix of legionnaires and sturgian heavy spearmen. For archers it's a toss up between Fian champions (Battania) or Vlandian sharpshooter. Cavalry I would say Elite Cataphract (Empire). But Vlandias elite cavalry (forgot the name) is very close. Khuzait Khan's guard is the best option for horse archers hands down.

The problem is that if you order to charge they will use spears, I believe that the only way for them to use maces is if you send them on foot.I think the Imperial legionary is really good, and the kuzait darkhan, the falxman is pretty goodbut the Sturgian heavy spearmen sucks, the pikemen isn't good, the aserai mameluke is pretty good.
