I just got my 7950X today and finished installing everything, but I am noticing unusually high temperatures when idle. The idle temperature lies at 72 degrees Celsius, and throttles when doing benchmarks like cinebench. I have an NZXT Kraken x53 AIO, which I think should be enough to cool this processor, but the temperatures say otherwise.

Ryzen temperature are okay to be high. IIRC they start to throttle at 85°C (please google it yourself, I might be slightly drunk) so ~80 °C is totally fine. Full performance at the price of noise. They also overclock the most used core (s) by design leading to these temperatures. That's fine.
