IDENTIFICATION TIPS Like Akro Agate and Christensen, early Peltier marbles are often composed of brilliant combinations of color. The first marbles by Peltier were produced by Miller machinery, and were single-stream slags and swirls. many Peltier marbles, especially early examples, have as-made blow-out holes that appear on the surface of the marble as tiny pits. A Peppermint Swirl is another specific type of banded swirl that has subsurface bands. The marble has two wide opaque white bands, alternating with two thinner translucent blue bands. There are usually two or three transparent pink stripes on each white band. I’ve been separating marbles for about a month now. I’m starting to think I’m in over my head! Thanks again! Keep at it! It took me about seven months to be able to ID mibs accurately beyond Marble King, Pelt (Rainbos and slags only, still struggle with multicolor swirls and patches), and Vitro... But I still struggle with swirls, of course.

The Kokomo Opalescent Glass Company was founded in 1888 in Kokomo, Indiana, and continues to operate today. The company produces rolled glass, which is used in windows, lamps, etc. In the late 1930s, Kokomo purchased a marble making machine from Peltier Glass Company and used it to produce marbles made from the glass rejected in their rolling process.

Always look at the pattern and cut lines as well as surface attributes found on Mexican fast made marbles. Old Peltier marbles are perfect surfaces lacking the irregular surface and cold rolls of a normal Vacor. Out of a bag of 50, one is lucky to find 5 perfect examples lacking surface imperfections.
