Of course, it's due for the yearly inspection this month and I'm not sure it will pass in Texas with those four lights on.

Same issue with my 05 Xterra. While I agree the VDC has nothing to do with dying, I'm having similar missfiring, shutting down and running again. The VDC is also lighting up occasionally as this occurs. Replaced both CPS sensors with Nissan ones. The new design by them is these are metal and not black plastic as prior.

Most alignment shops won't do this. If the steering angle sensor is way off, the VDC light will stay on and the system will not work at all. If it is only slightly off, it can confuse the computer. If wheel slip actually occurred, the light should extinguish on its own. The VDC OFF light should illuminate if you turn it off, or place it in 4LO.
