Feb 8, 2023 · I have a 2015 Kia Soul base model with 276,000 miles. I swapped the engine at 225,000 miles with a used one that had 89,000, so the engine now has about 140,000 miles. As the title says, I have a rough idle (fluctuates between low and high RPMs, car shakes, but never stalls). Odd thing is that it goes away if I turn the vehicle on and off. I've taken care of a few things already like spark plugs, oil change, CEL for an O2 sensor, compression test 180-190 across all 4, air filter, cleaned MAF, cleaned throttle body, seafoam in gas. My issue is: at idle the engine vibrates enough to be annoying. Not terribly, but it comes into the cabin and is bothersome.This is how the Kia engines idle. They drop the fuel input and just barely keep the engine running at idle. This has been my experience for the past 20 years owning Kia vehicles. If there is no CEL there's no problem.
