You need a proper skill build, weapon + anointment, shield + anointment, grenade + anointment, class mod with a decent combination of skills and passives, and artifact with decent passives. If you're playing Amara, I recommend Moxsy's Khaos Queen as a beginner build, as that's basically what I myself started with playing for the first time.
