The reason you start with a 2.6 is because the sheetmetal at the front of the engine bay is different for the 2.3 to accommodate the longer engine. You could swap that to the 2.3, but you need to find a donor and cut/weld the new parts. The 190E drives good once sorted out.2. The 2.6 comes with a single overhead cam, through some research have. found that 300e 24 valve (124 series) has a DOHC, and like the idea of. this engine, and have found one at a more than reasonable price, does. the 300e 24v engine have the same mounting points as the 190E 2.6 as.
