It ran a few minutes and starting doing a short chirp every 10 seconds or so. No water was coming out of the telltale on the back of the motor.As the engine is continued to run and level drops more the warning buzzer will begin to sound a 7 sec intervals all while the red light stays on. after 10 sec of running the rpm will drop and the rev limit light comes on. The last several times I started it up cold, the alarm beeps a couple of minutes after startup and the "check engine" light comes on, but not every time. If I remember correctly the maintenance light can be reset by turning the key to on (do not start) and cycling the emergency kill switch three times. If that is not it exactly, it is fairly close. Nothing, of course, beats using your manual.
We tried the oil light reset sequence, hear the confirmation beep, but the light stays on. Oil level is fine. We did notice that when we started the motor with SDS connected, the oil light goes off. But comes back on as soon as SDS is disconnected. First, trim the engine to the down position. The oil drain plug is located on the starboard side in the mid section of the engine. There are several screws holding the lower cowling together.
