If you ever have a bad or worn-out tensioner, then it’ll affect the tension of your serpentine belt on the pulleys of the system.Since it increases with steering input I would suggest you check the power steering fluid level. The pump will whine if low on fluid. If it is low top it off and find out where it is leaking. The pump in the trans can make a very similar whine noise if low on fluid but that should not be related to steering input.
