To get Ranni's quest to aid Blaidd you must kill Radahn, but killing Radahn moots the tournament quest, doesn't it? Seems like the quest order is contradictory. Unless I'm missing something. I really wanted to do a playthrough using his weapon as early as possible. It seems you can only get it after killing him legitimately in Ranni's quest line. Pretty sure you have to complete both his and another NPCs to get his armor, if you kill him before the end you just get his weapon.
