When it's wet, I've seen 40-50 gators, my mom claims 200+. The boardwalk at the beginning of the trail is good for viewing the Sink, and the lake usually teeming with gators. They are not very active at this time which makes it possible to get so close but I would still recommend keeping a safe distance and not allowing small children to roam around on their own.
