It turns on fine, but once I hit the starter it just clicks. Have checked all the usual things. I have had the bike over a year and am afraid to ride it. Sometimes it starts and sometimes not.

The service manual shows how to do a "dealer mode 1 and or dealer mode 2" test that may help you to find the problem, or you may have one of these: alternator trouble, wiring faulty, regualtor/rectifer trouble.
