The Kakwa 40 will be ready soon. The first one off the production line is in the mail to me. Once it arrives I’ll do the products photos and video, and then hopefully be ready to launch it a week or so later. So roughly 2-3 weeks until the launch and then another 2-3 weeks til the packs start shipping. The Kakwa people are a small minority but a part of the larger Karo people, an intermarried group that also includes the Bari, Pojulu, Mundari, Kuku, Nyepo, and Nyangwara. Their language, Kutuk na Kakwa, is an Eastern Nilotic language. [3] The HMG is 55 internal + 10 external, so the Kakwa can take a bigger load than the 40 liter capacity would suggest, and only gives up 10L overall to the HMG. There’s a Kakwa 55 supposedly coming out later this year for early next year delivery if you can wait and the extra size helps. HMG just dropped a new 40L pack. UPDATE: I ordered a Kakwa 40 but returned it after trying it out with my gear. It was just too tight with the bear canister and without the expandable mesh pocket. Other than that it seemed great, though. And the new Kakwa 55 just came out with a bigger mesh pocket, so I ordered one of those! The side pockets are stretchy and good size. One pocket is cut at an angle for easy water bottle access, and that pocket can hold 2 1-liter Smartwater bottles. The other pocket is a bit deeper and cut horizontally.
