Feb 19, 2020. #1. Do some basic troubleshooting first. A test light is easiest. Ignition on, ground the clip of the test light, probe to the ignition switch side of the coil. Should have voltage there. Try wiggling the ignition switch and the associated wiring to be sure there is a solid connection.1. Spark. 2. Fuel. 3 Air. Always start with checking for spark. Then fuel. Air last. If this has been coming on gradually, could be burned points, and just got worse. If you have at least good spark, and no start, Shut the fuel off above the sediment bowl, then check the sediment bowl, and screen above it, if it still has one.For some reason when I did my restore on my 53, I thought I had already put the electronic ignition in when I did the 12v conversion (had a lot going on at time)...
